Flight of Dragons

   Home/Change Series

Growing up, "The Flight of Dragons" was a favorite of my brother's and mine. A film by Rankin/Bass, the same people who brought us "The Last Unicorn" and "The Hobbit", the film is based on the two books: "The Flight of Dragons" by Peter Dickinson, and "The Dragon and the George" by Gordon R. Dickson. It tells the story of a 20th century dragon enthusiast, Peter, who is transported to the Magic Realm to use his knowledge of science to defeat black magic. During a freak accident, he merges with the dragon, Gorbash, and now must continue his quest as a confused human now with an entire dragon body to control.

When the film was to be distributed in America, a review found it to be too violent. Whatever. Regardless, the film was edited and about 15-20 minutes was removed. If you want to see the entire, unedited film, you'll have to get a copy of the UK version on PAL.
